New Dr. Seuss Book 'What Pet Should I Get?' Now Available
BOSTON (CBS/AP) – Dr. Seuss has a new book coming out Tuesday – 24 years after his death.
"What Pet Should I Get?" was likely written between 1958 and 1962, according to publisher Random House.
Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Geisel, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. He died in 1991.
The manuscript for the new book was found in his home in 2013.
"Shortly after Dr. Seuss died his widow did some renovations in the house and I think the box was packed up then and just forgotten about," Cathy Goldsmith, VP and Associate Publisher, Random House Young Readers, told CBS News.
"I went literally running down the hall to my bosses office and said they found a box. They want us to come and look."
The book features the same brother and sister seen in Dr. Seuss' 1960 classic "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish."

"A pup and a kitten.
They looked like good fun.
NOW which would we pick?
We could only pick one."
"Dr. Seuss is more popular now than he was during his lifetime," Bill Dreyer the Curator for the Art of Seuss, told CBS.
"In the 25 years since he's now been gone, another 450 million books have been sold," said Dreyer, who said he believes more books will come out of the historic find.
