BOSTON (CBS) -- Three weeks after it was initially reported, the Celtics have announced their acquisition of forward David Lee.

Boston sends veteran forward Gerald Wallace and guard Chris Babb to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Lee, a 10-year NBA veteran.

"We are excited to welcome David as a member of the Celtics family," President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge said in the release. "His proven skill set and experience on a championship team will add valuable depth to our frontcourt and a veteran presence to our locker room."

The 6-foot-9 Lee played in 49 games for the Warriors in 2014-15, averaging 7.9 points on 51.1 percent shooting from the field, 5.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 18.4 minutes per game. He played in 13 games in Golden State's run to the NBA title, averaging 3.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per game off the bench.
