Plainville Couple Thankful For Support After Plane Crashes Into Their House

PLAINVILLE (CBS) -- A week after a plane crashed into their house, a couple from Plainville is grateful for the way people have responded.

The shock of what happened was unimaginable. A family of three was headed to Boston for a college visit when the pilot reported engine trouble and struck the home on Bridal Path, killing everyone on board.

But Aaron and Carol Rice and their two young children were able to escape their burning home safely, and are finding some silver linings in the tragedy.

Complete strangers have sent their well-wishes and gift cards. The Rice family is waiting for estimates from insurance companies, but they want to rebuild in the same spot.

"I don't think we felt as part of the New England community because we moved from California, but we definitely feel like this is where we belong," Carol Rice said.

It took losing a home to make them realize they are home.

"People have really kind of put their arms around us and kept us safe," Carol Rice said.
