Arlington Police Seeking Suspect Who Robbed Man In Craigslist Meetup

ARLINGTON (CBS) -- Arlington police say they are looking for a suspect who robbed a man during a Craigslist meetup in late June.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 25-year-old Arlington resident Steven Michael O'Brien, and he will be charged with receiving stolen motor vehicle, kidnapping and larceny over $250 from a person over 60.

Police say O'Brien arranged the June 30 meetup with the intent to rob the victim. It's unclear where the theft occurred and what was allegedly stolen.

O'Brien also has multiple outstanding warrants out of Cambridge District Court.

"This wanted felon is a career criminal who we allege committed a robbery in our community this week," police chief Frederick Ryan said in a statement released Thursday. "We are actively looking for him, and if anyone from the public knows where he is staying, they would be doing the public a service by contacting the Arlington Police Department right away."

Transit police have assisted Arlington police by providing surveillance images from the MBTA's Alewife Station.

Anyone with information is asked to call Arlington police at (781) 643-1212. All calls will be anonymous.
