1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Raynham Crash

RAYNHAM (CBS) -- Officials say an adult was killed and two others were hurt after a two-car crash on Route 44 Thursday night in Raynham.

Officers received several calls about a serious accident near the Quality Inn at 7:55 p.m. Police and firefighters found two badly-damaged smaller-to-medium-sized cars in the roadway.

A preliminary investigation indicates that one of the vehicles involved crossed the center line, striking the other vehicle heading in the opposite direction, police say.

Fire officials say both drivers were injured, and it took firefighters about 25 minutes to free the seriously hurt driver, who later succumbed to his or her injuries, using the Jaws of Life.

Two victims were take to Morton Hospital, while the other was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Authorities have not released the genders, ages, or current conditions of the victims.

Raynham police's Accident Reconstruction Team and State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
