Boston Ranked Among 'Most Livable' Cities
BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston has been named one of America's most livable cities at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in San Francisco.
Boston was selected from over 200 cities by former mayors. Boston won the top spot among large cities, while Hattiesburg, Mississippi took home the award for cities with populations less than 100,000.
The city livability award recognizes mayoral leadership in developing and implementing programs improving the quality of life, focusing on leadership, creativity and innovation.

Mayor Marty Walsh said he was honored to receive the award on behalf of the city.
The distinction was news to Boston residents waiting outside the Ashmont MBTA station, like a Dorchester woman named Carol.
"I live in a shelter. . . there's a lot of homeless people around here," Carol told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
But Carol did say the buses usually seem to come on time, and she always finds something to do with the kids.
Younger, single people said Boston offers a lot, but housing costs continue to rise.
Other cities recognized for livability include Charleston, South Carolina; Irvine California; Kansas City; Louisville and Philadelphia.
