Daily Talker: Director's Casting Apology

A big time Hollywood director is apologizing for the controversy surrounding his new movie.

Cameron Crowe, director of Aloha, has been criticized for his portrayal of the Hawaiian Islands. Many Hawaiian residents have been upset about the mostly Caucasian roster of stars in the movie---a romantic dramedy.

The most eyebrow-raising casting decision though centers around Emma Stone.  The 26 year old stars as Allison Ng, a feisty fighter-pilot of Hawaiian-Chinese-Swedish decent

The movie also stars Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, and Alec Baldwin.

Crowe wrote an apology on his personal website.

"I have heard your words and your disappointment, and I offer you a heartfelt apology to all who felt this was an odd or misguided casting choice. Captain Allison Ng was written to be a super-proud ¼ Hawaiian who was frustrated that, by all outward appearances, she looked nothing like one. A half-Chinese father was meant to show the surprising mix of cultures often prevalent in Hawaii."

Aloha has been panned by most critics as well.

What do you think of Cameron Crowe apologizing for his casting of Emma Stone in the movie Aloha?
