Tom Brady Jersey Sales Remain Strong Despite Deflategate Controversy
BOSTON (CBS) -- Many people outside of New England view Tom Brady as a cheater following the Deflategate Controversy.
But that dark cloud hasn't hurt the quarterback's jersey sales, as Brady ranked third for the month of May.
It appears most fans are focusing more on supporting the Super Bowl XLIX MVP than the drama around deflated footballs. Just last month, following his release of the Wells Report, sales for Brady paraphernalia reportedly spiked 100 percent.
Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota, drafted second overall in this year's NFL Draft, ranked first, while Jameis Winston, drafted first overall, placed second. There's no word on how sales of "Marcus Marioto" jerseys went.
The Patriots had two players ranked in the Top 10, with tight end Rob Gronkowski placing sixth. They were also the top-selling team for the month, followed by the 49ers and Seahawks.
The rankings are based on sales from the NFL's official online store for the month of May.
