Eversource's Reduced Electricity Rates Approved

BOSTON (CBS) – As temperatures in New England continue to rise, Eversource customers in Eastern Massachusetts will see a drop on their electricity bills this summer.

The Department of Public Utilities approved new Eversource supply rates on Wednesday that will go into effect on July 1.

Once the new rates begin, residential customers in Eastern Massachusetts will see their rate drop by 33% from 15.046 cents to 10.050 cents per kilowatt hour, the company said.

As a result of the rate change, Eversource customers in greater Boston and the MetroWest will have a bill decrease from about $122 to around $97, a difference around 20%.

Customers on the South Shore, Cape Cod and greater New Bedford will see their average bill fall from $124 to $99.
