Sturbridge Homeowner Startles Black Bear Off Porch

STURBRIDGE (CBS) - A Sturbridge homeowner got an unexpected visitor on Wednesday when he found a black bear on his back porch.

Police posted a Facebook video of Mike Alvarado's encounter with the bear.

The bear can be seen putting its foot up on a railing, swatting several times at a bird feeder dangling from a green post before eventually knocking part of it and the bird seed to the ground.

Police are cautioning people to be aware of their surroundings.

"Remember that there are wildlife around our Town and they are hungry, especially Black Bear," reads the Facebook post. "They love bird feed."

Warning: Alvarado then shouts loudly at the bear from inside his home, and the animal walks around a patio table and heads down the stairs.
