Lowell Man Rescued After Falling Into Merrimack River

LOWELL (CBS) -- A 25-year-old Lowell man was rescued from the frigid waters after he slipped and fell into the Merrimack River.

Police responded to a report of the man screaming and floating in the river shortly before 9 a.m on Monday. State and local emergency crews located the man and pulled him to shore.

The man, who has not been identified, was conscious and alert. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
