70s In The Not So Distant Future!

With the cool stretch over the past several days our monthly temperature has averaged out to just above normal so far (+0.1 in Boston) and believe it or not, we could actually use some rain. We're in a precipitation deficit by over an inch in the city.  There aren't any big storms in the forecast…but there is a big warm up on the way, so we'll talk more about that in a second.

For now, the big upper level low that we first talked about last week is still in control of our weather. We're on the western fringe of it though and it's slowly losing its grip on the region. Nonetheless, we'll still get some clouds tossed in our direction the next few days – blotting out the sun completely at times, and keeping the threat of an isolated shower in the forecast. Our temperatures will be fairly seasonal, around 6o, except for at the coast where a cooling sea breeze will keep shorelines in the upper 40s to low 50s both tomorrow and Thursday. Overall, the middle part of the week will be uneventful.

2015 Pattern2

Friday is a bit uncertain as some moisture to our south may try and clip southern New England. Right now I'd say just plan on cool temps with an onshore wind and the threat for a shower. The forecast may take a more optimistic turn…but we'll stay the course for now.

In terms of the weekend – Saturday looks decent with clouds parting for sunshine (but cool temps). Sunday looks like a beauty; expect sunshine and temps warming well into the 60s! Looking for 70s? You won't have to wait too long! A ridge in the jetstream moves over us to start next week, opening the door to some unseasonable warmth.

2015 Countdown

See you again tomorrow morning on WBZ starting at 4:30 AM!
