Massarotti: Hanley Ramirez's Effort In Left Field Uninspiring Thus Far

BOSTON (CBS) -- Without question, the biggest question concerning the Red Sox right now is their starting rotation.

In the last four days, Clay Buchholz, Justin Masterson and Wade Miley all have taken beatings. Boston's starting rotation currently ranks 14th among the 15 teams in the American League with a 6.16 ERA.

Of course, that can change quickly. But when starters fail to make it through four innings three times in four days, it taxes a bullpen.

That said, click on this link and watch the highlight package titled "Nationals erupt with six-run 3rd inning."

Pay particular attention to the way Hanley Ramirez runs … er, jogs … after the balls hit into the left field corner. Did Ramirez cost the Red Sox the game with this laziness? No. But on the three-run double by Wilson Ramos, a little urgency might have kept one run from scoring.

We all know Ramirez can hit – and he hit a two-run homer in this game. But this kind of laziness is what earned him a reputation with the Florida Marlins years ago.

Felger & Massarotti have been very pleased with Hanley Ramirez in the batter's box, but not so much in the field.
