No Tax Forms Or Preparers On Site At Boston Post Office On Tax Day

BOSTON (AP) — The Postal Service is warning last-minute tax filers that it won't have forms or preparers at Boston's main post office to lend a hand on Tax Day.

Postal officials say the Fort Point Post Office will open at 6 a.m. Wednesday — when tax returns must be postmarked — and it will stay open until midnight.

But unlike past years, no tax forms or professional tax preparers will be on site to help procrastinators. The post office provided both on April 15 in the past, but demand has dwindled as the overwhelming majority of taxpayers file their returns online.

Officials say taxpayers dropping returns in collection boxes at Fort Point rather than at a window should do so no later than 8 p.m. Wednesday to get an April 15 postmark.
