Police Seize Kilo Of Heroin, $150,000 Cash From Worcester Apartment

WORCESTER (CBS) – Police seized over a kilogram of heroin and nearly $150,000 cash during a Worcester drug bust that led to the arrest of six people.

Police said that on Tuesday officers saw Joel Melendez, 39, and Josimar Delacruz, 28, completing a drug deal with two other men as officers were conducting surveillance near 100 Blackstone River Road.

Officers stopped the second car and found Rickey Rivera, 24, and Quinten Bottom, 20, inside. Police said the two men had 11 small bags of heroin on them and they were arrested.

When police searched Melendez and Delacruz, they found $3,800 cash along with keys to an apartment on Blackstone River Road.

Delacruz and Melendez were arrested on various drug charges.

Upon entering their apartment with a search warrant, officers found Darwin De Jesus Perez, 25,  allegedly packaging a large amount of heroin. They also found Eridy Baez, 22, inside the apartment.

Both were taken into custody.

During their search of the apartment, police found 1,500 grams of heroin, 7 grams of cocaine, drug packaging material, digital scales, cutting agents and $147,200 cash.

Police said the heroin found in the apartment has an estimated street value of $150,000.
