Bob Beers: Officials Missed Blatant Goalie Interference In Bruins 3-2 OT Loss

BOSTON (CBS) - The Bruins lost in heartbreaking, gut-punching fashion Thursday night.

Up 2-1 with under 40 seconds to play in the game, Anaheim's Corey Perry scored the equalizer and forced overtime, where teammate Ryan Getzlaf scored at the 03:09 mark as the Ducks rallied past the Bruins at TD Garden. Boston still picked up a point, but certainly could've used the extra one as they're chasing Ottawa in the standings.

"They let one slip right through their fingers," 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones said of the Bruins Thursday night following the contest.

Boston (36-25-13) has now lost six straight games and are currently tied with Ottawa with 85 points, but the Senators hold the game in hand for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Jones was joined by Dave Goucher and Bob Beers of the Bruins Radio Network after the game to provide a recap and analysis.

"The Bruins were in position to win this game, but unfortunately they couldn't get the job done in the final 38, 39 seconds. It was Anaheim's best players, [Ryan] Getzlaf and Perry that were the difference makers," Goucher told Jones. "From a Bruins standpoint, their inability to get two points is just a crusher for them."

Color analyst Bob Beers also acknowledges that Boston should have been the victors, and points out a missed call by the officials that really proved detrimental.

"You're up 2-1 in the final minute against one of the best teams in the NHL -- they should have won this game. I said it when it happened, and I'm glad [head coach] Claude Julien has said it as well, but Corey Perry interfered with Tuukka Rask. He interfered with him. He came to the front of the net, he made contact and it absolutely should have been a no goal [on the game-tying score]."

Watch the play and see for yourself:

"[The officials] didn't get it right. They got it wrong right there. They missed that call completely. You're battling for a playoff spot, you're going up against one of the best teams in the league, you need to turn your season around and you've got a 2-1 lead with less than a minute to go -- that's got to be picked up by one of the four referees. That's got to be picked up, and it wasn't."

Later in the segment, Adam Jones provided his three highlights and three lowlights from the game in a segment he calls "Plus/Minus."
