Daily Talker: School Menu Changes

There are some big changes on the way in cafeterias at more than 40 Boston public schools and parents are not happy about it.

Schools have traditionally offered a wide variety of options on menus, but beginning next month, students will see a much different set of choices.

According to the Globe, schools will no longer offer both a hot and cold breakfast option.  Instead, hot items will be limited to twice a week.  On some mornings, students will receive a bowl of cereal and two pieces of fruit.

Students will be limited to two or three options at lunch as well.  Instead of entree dishes, students will chose from peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, hamburgers, and more.

The changes are a cost-cutting move as Boston's food service program has lost millions of dollars over the past few years.  The changes take effect next month.

What do you think of the changes coming to menus at Boston public schools?
