Mendon Man Arrested After Allegedly Setting House On Fire

MENDON (CBS) – A Mendon man was arrested after police say he set his Blackstone Street house on fire Thursday night.

The man then sat in his van in the driveway and watched the home burn. Police say the man wrapped himself in electrical cords.

Police had to use a Taser on the man to take him into custody. He suffered minor injuries.

According to the Mendon police log, 49-year-old David Cheschi was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing firefighting, and interference with firefighting.

The Bomb Squad and ATF responded to the home as a precaution.

Officers say the suspect has threatened to harm police in the past.
