Vice Principal Hospitalized, Four Students Charged After Worcester School Fight

WORCESTER (CBS) – Four Worcester students were suspended from school and charged by police after a fight that injured a pair of faculty members.

Worcester police officers were called to North High School at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday after a school security guard alerted them to a fight in the building.

One of the school's vice principals separated a group of students who were "speaking with other students in a menacing manner" and followed two of the them back to their seats.

Police said while the vice principal was talking to the two, an 18-year-old male student ran over and began punching one of the teens.

At that point police say a 16-year-old and 18-year-old ran to help their friend who was being attacked, pinning the vice principal in the middle of the fight.

The vice principal fell to the ground and was punched in his head and ear, according to police. He was hospitalized after injuring his neck in the brawl.

Several faculty members worked to separate the teenagers during the fight. A teacher's face was scratched and his eyeglasses broken during the skirmish.

The school suspended all four students for their roles in the fight. In addition, police said each will be charged with assault and battery and disrupting a school assemble.
