The Boston Bruins As You've Never Seen Them Before

Bryan Altman, CBS Local Sports

Today's "out of left field" story was about a team of entomologists that discovered a new species of wasp in East Africa and decided to name their discovery after Boston Bruins' goalie Tuukka Rask. According to The Boston Globe the species' name will be Thaumatodryinus tuukkaraski and the team decided to name it after Rask thanks to Robert S. Copeland, a member of their team who is a die-hard Boston sports fan.

After news broke that a new species of insect would be named after their star netminder, the Boston Bruins decided to have some fun with the news and asked fans name a new species after a Bruins player themselves.

The quality of the new names far outweighed the quality of the Photoshopping but the results were pretty much priceless.

Who knew that defenseman Dougie Hamilton's name lent itself so well to species creation?
