Springfield Man Arrested Twice In One Weekend, Faces Drug Charges

SPRINGFIELD (CBS) -- A Springfield man faces a slew of charges after he was arrested twice in one weekend for allegedly dealing heroin.

Jose Blanco, 26, was first arrested on Friday after Springfield police surveillance allegedly caught Blanco dealing drugs in a supermarket parking lot.

According to police, a man was spotted in a parked car in an isolated part of the parking lot. Blanco allegedly drove up and got into the running car, walked back to his car and drove away.

When Springfield detectives pulled Blanco over, they found 99 bags of heroin and more than $1,500 in cash. Blanco was arrested but made his $5,000 bail. The other driver Martin Rodriguez, 29, was also found with 99 bags of heroin and was arrested.

Blanco was arrested again Saturday night after an alleged car chase with police that ended when his car smashed into a cement barrier in a parking lot. Police recovered 100 bags of heroin that was thrown in the snow.

Police also found more than 1,300 bags of heroin, drug paraphernalia, and $7,000 in cash, after searching the home Blanco left that day .

Blanco was arrested and held without bail. He faces drug possession and distribution charges and motor vehicle charges.
