Chelmsford School Employee Charged With Assaulting Child

CHELMSFORD (CBS) – A Chelmsford educator is on administrative leave after being arrested and accused of assaulting a child.

Chelmsford Superintendent of Schools Frank Tiano announced on Thursday that Christopher Holt, a paraprofessional and site supervisor for the district's Community Education program, has been arrested and charged with indecent assault and battery on a child.

Tiano said that allegations against Holt surfaced on January 7, and he was placed on leave at that time.

After the allegations were made, the district contacted the Chelmsford Police Department and the Department of Children and Families.

The superintendent said he cannot comment specifically on the accusations against Holt because of confidentiality and due to the fact that the investigation is ongoing.

"The Chelmsford Public Schools wants parents, students and members of the community at large to know that it is actively managing this matter and, if any evidence of wrongdoing is established, it will take appropriate action," Tiano said.
