Daily Talker: Smartphone Anxiety

Researchers are shedding new light on our growing dependency on smartphones. A study out of the University of Missouri shows smartphone separation anxiety is real. Researchers says the stress of being without one's phone "can negatively impact performance on mental tasks".

For example, if a participants' iPhones rang while they were in another room and were not able to answer, participants' heart rates and blood pressure levels increased. They also underperformed on simple word-search puzzles and reported feeling anxious and "unpleasant", according to the study.

Many people rely on their smartphones for every day tasks but the study shows the devices can have a negative impact.
