Keller @ Large: Accept Reality Without Whining

BOSTON (CBS) - I'm sure Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh is good at his job.

But he should reflect on the fact that nobody likes a crybaby, who reacts to being outcoached in the year's biggest game by complaining about how the winners somehow grabbed an unfair advantage.

If you missed it, at a key point in the game Harbaugh took a costly penalty by running onto the field to scream at the referees about a strategy the Patriots were using that profoundly confused the Ravens. While unusual, this scheme, which involved declaring an offensive player an ineligible receiver, left the Ravens defense baffled about who to cover, and led to key gains by the Pats.

The tactic is completely legal, according to the NFL, and was properly handled by the officials on the field.

That didn't stop sore-loser Harbaugh from ranting about it after the game.

"It's not something that anybody's ever done before," he said. "So maybe the league will look at that type of thing and I'm sure that they'll make some adjustments."

Harbaugh isn't the only one who needs to learn how to accept defeat a bit more gracefully.

When they lose a close election, you can count on political partisans to scream bloody murder about all the allegedly-sleazy tricks that were used against them.

And heaven forbid one youth sports team should be better coached and more talented than another. Trophies for everyone, please!

Hey, sometimes you get the elevator, and sometimes you get the shaft.

That's life.

The key is, can you accept reality without whining up a storm?
