Woman Accused Of Stealing State Police Cruiser From Logan Airport

BOSTON (CBS) – A Hingham woman allegedly stole a State Police cruiser after she was found passed out inside Logan Airport early Wednesday morning.

State Police say 29-year-old Danielle McDonough was found on the floor near the baggage carousel on the first floor of Terminal A. Police say she had an existing order prohibiting her from trespassing at the airport.

Troopers escorted her outside after she declined medical attention. McDonough then apparently got into an unattended cruiser that was idling outside of the terminal and drove off at about 2:30 am.

A trooper searching for the missing cruiser noticed it being operated on Service Road and attempted to stop it. Police say McDonough refused to stop and ran red lights before pulling into a parking lot at the Orient Heights MBTA station.

When a trooper exited his cruiser, she allegedly backed up in his direction, causing him to move quickly out of the way.

McDonough was arrested and charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, operating with a suspended license, speeding and red light violations.

The cruiser was not damaged and no one was injured.

State Police have begun an internal investigation into how the suspect was able to steal the cruiser.
