Daily Talker: Space Saving Ban

It is a time honored-tradition in Boston and across New England this time of year. When we're hit by a snow storm, people shovel out their cars and save their spot using a variety of objects---whether it be traffic cones or chairs---to make sure no one swipes the spot.

But one neighborhood has banned the practice.

According to the Boston Globe, "South End Forum" launched its own pilot program last year to rid the streets of space savers following a particularly nasty winter that saw an increase in space savers, but also, arguments among neighbors and the overall loss of parking spaces. The city has now OK'd it.

Now, South Enders are encouraged to remove any items that are saving parking spots or they can call the city to come do it. Trash contractors will also be allowed to collect all space savers they see as well.

Do you think the practice of space saving should be banned? Or should you have the right to protect the spot that you shoveled out?
