Patriots Reportedly Extend Nick Caserio Through 2020 Season

BOSTON (CBS) -- NFL teams looking for a new general manager were expected to make a hard run at Nick Caserio this offseason, but he won't be leaving New England anytime soon.

The Patriots have reportedly extended their director of player personnel through the end of the 2020 season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal is thought to be the longest front-office contract in the NFL, according to Schefter.

Patriots president Jonathan Kraft wouldn't talk about the contract Sunday on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Patriots Preview ahead of New England's regular season finale against the Bills, but had plenty of praise for Caserio.

"Nick doesn't get enough credit for what happens here," said Kraft. "He has coached, scouted, done the job of the guy running the front office, looking at the salary cap. For a guy his age, he really has a lot of NFL experience under his belt and he and Bill have a great relationship.

"He's a big part of what we do here," said Kraft.

Caserio has been with the Patriots since the 2001 season, and has served as the director of player personnel since 2008.
