Daily Talker: Fire Hydrant Violators

Boston firefighters called out to battle a three-alarm fire in the city's South End yesterday were once again greeted by an unwelcome sight. The driver of a BMW parked in front of a fire hydrant. Even more troubling was the fact that there were two parking tickets on the windshield, yet the car was still not towed. You may recall a similar incident last April where firefighters actually took the step of smashing the windows of a BMW to get a hose where it needed to be. Do you think there needs to be harsher penalties for drivers who park in front of fire hydrants?
