Wednesday's Child: 14 Year-Old Farrah

BOSTON (CBS) - Farrah is a smart 14-year-old Caucasian girl with loads of personality and spunk. She is outgoing, social, and insightful. Farrah is eager to please and form positive relationships.  She enjoys being active and has taken dance lessons in the past. Currently, she likes playing basketball and would love opportunities to go on outings to places such as a miniature golf course and go kart track.

Farrah does well in school, and has an Individualized Education Plan for emotional support. At times, Farrah struggles with peer relationships and boundaries. She is working on social skills in therapy, and she also enjoys being mentored by the older girls in her foster home.  Farrah is good with younger children and is looking forward to becoming a babysitter in the near future. Overall, Farrah is doing well, and her foster parents don't have any concerns about her behavior.

Legally freed for adoption, Farrah is in need of an adoptive family of any constellation who could provide an environment that is not overly stimulating for her. She is working to overcome past trauma, and needs a family that will help her establish boundaries and learn to cope with feelings from the past.  Farrah is open to an adoptive family who will allow her contact with her family connections. When asked about the type of family she is seeking, she has said she would like "a mom and dad and a little brother or sister because I never really got to have that."

To learn more about Farrah, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
