Rich Keefe's Fantasy Brief: Week 9 Pickups

BOSTON (CBS) - He says it every week, but 98.5 The Sports Hub's Rich Keefe really can't believe how far along the NFL season is.

It's already Week 9 and it kicks off Thursday night, with the Saints traveling to Charlotte to take on the Panthers.

Rich Keefe co-hosts the Fantasy Football Show Sunday mornings on the Sports Hub, so every night with Adam Jones he puts some time aside to provide you with his expert advice.

With six teams on the bye this week (Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, Tennessee) there's a lot of great players with Sunday off, so picking up the right player on the waiver wire could help make the difference for you in your league.

On Tuesday night, Keefe laid out five players you should look to add before Week 9 begins.

1. Martavis Bryant -- Pittsburgh Steelers -- WR

"Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Martavis Bryant. He's a tall kid.  Ben Roethlisberger threw two of his six touchdowns last week to Bryant. He's only played in two games this year, but he has three touchdowns. Antonio Brown is going to be the guy there, and I thought Markus Wheaton was going to be the no. 2 -- I drafted him in all my leagues thinking he would step up. Bryant just seems better and more dangerous than Wheaton, so I would target him."

2. Kenny Britt -- St. Louis Rams -- WR

"Another wide receiver. He had a couple good seasons with the Titans, but he's with the Rams now and Brian Quick just stormed past him and was the better player earlier in the season. But a shoulder injury has ended Quick's season. Austin Davis has actually done a good job throwing the ball around, and Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey -- as great of athletes as each one are -- they're not really your prototypical wide receivers and have never really been a part of the passing game. I don't love Kenny Britt, but I think he's sort of forced into a role that will at least get him targeted."

3. Donte Moncrief -- Indianapolis Colts -- WR

"He was targeted 12 times this past Sunday but Reggie Wayne didn't play. So when Wayne returns you would assume those targets would come down. But the way Andrew Luck has been slinging it around he's gonna throw for 5,000 yards this year. He's got T.Y. Hilton, Reggie Wayne, both tight ends -- there's still room for Moncrief. He's not going to be someone you start every week, but I'd pick him up in a deeper league. He's still on the waiver wire in most leagues. He's very intriguing."

4. Charles Sims -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- RB

"He's a rookie third round pick, which nowadays is very high for a running back. He can do a great job of catching the ball out of the backfield. He plays for the Buccaneers -- a bad team as we all know. He's eligible to come off Injured Reserve, so he could make his debut this Sunday. Doug Martin did not get traded, but he sucks. Bobby Rainey blows. With those two guys struggling, and the investment they put in Sims, he's another intriguing guy."

5. Kyle Orton -- Buffalo Bills -- QB

"He's on a bye this week, but he's been putting up pretty good numbers. If you have a quarterback with a bye the next couple of weeks, he's another intriguing guy."
