Former Mayor Tom Menino In Hospital For Dehydration

BOSTON (CBS) - Former Boston Mayor Tom Menino is back in the hospital.

His wife Angela confirmed to WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Tuesday that Menino is being treated for dehydration and that he is doing better.

The former mayor has been at Brigham and Women's Hospital since Thursday and the dehydration may be related to his cancer treatments.

Menino was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

He just released a new book, "Mayor For A New America," about his twenty years in office.

"Mayor Menino is doing well. He experienced some side-effects as a result of a new treatment given to him prior to his book tour. He is responding well to treatment of those side effects and will hopefully be back talking about his new book, Mayor for a New America, soon," his spokesperson, Dot Joyce, told WBZ-TV in a statement.

"Mayor Menino wants to thank everyone for all of the generous support and kindness - he continues to be very proud of our city and most especially the people of our city."

Current Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said on Tuesday morning that he is hoping for a speedy recover by his predecessor.

"He's a strong man," said Walsh. "He's certainly out there. He was in New York last week promoting the book. Nothing's going to keep the man down. He's a strong man and he's certainly in all our thoughts and prayers."
