Esiason: Pressure, Tension Rising In Chicago Bears Locker Room

BOSTON (CBS) - CBS Sports football analyst and WFAN radio host Boomer Esiason joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich show Monday morning for his weekly appearance.

The Patriots, 5-2, are about to embark on a brutal six-game stretch, where they'll take on some of the best offenses and quarterbacks in the league.

It all starts on Sunday. The 3-4 Chicago Bears travel to Foxborough to try and end New England's three-game winning streak, in what's already being billed as a must-win contest for Da Bears. The Bears, while 0-3 at home, are 3-1 on the road -- which should give them some confidence on Sunday.

However, this is a team in turmoil and on the verge of a meltdown.

It was a reportedly an "ugly scene" inside the Bears locker room yesterday after another home loss, this time a two touchdown defeat by the Dolphins. Bears players were calling each other out, as well as the home crowd for not being loud enough.

Perfect timing if you're the Patriots.

"There's a lot of pressure rising there [in Chicago]. Brandon Marshall and I work together on Inside The NFL for Showtime, so tomorrow night's show is going to be very interesting to ask him what the hell is going on in that locker room. I know from working with Brandon the last four or five weeks how frustrated they all are in Chicago. They really feel like they're a good offensive team. And when you look at it you're like, 'Wow these guys are good.' If you change quarterbacks, if you take Jay Cutler out of there and put in Tom Brady, this team would probably be undefeated. I think that's part of the frustration in that locker room. I've been there. I know exactly the tension that must be rising to the top, especially when you lose your third home game of the season. It's not surprising to be that it's finally hit the pressure cooker stage."

The Patriots open the week as seven point favorites against the Bears.
