Gresh: 'Childish' For Darrelle Revis To Want Offensive TD Against Former Team

BOSTON (CBS) – Before becoming a shutdown cornerback in the National Football League, Darrelle Revis was also a high school wide receiver, and he apparently still has dreams of reliving that experience in the pros.

Jason Cole of Bleacher Report had an interesting tidbit yesterday detailing Revis and the Patriots' initial meeting in the offseason, where Revis apparently expressed an interest in scoring an offensive touchdown against his former team.

Months later, and here we are with Thursday Night Football approaching and the New York Jets in town. Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald confirmed Cole's report, and Revis himself has not denied it.

Andy Gresh of 98.5 The Sports Hub thinks the idea is just plain stupid, and he explained why Thursday morning to open his show.

"How about this, you wanna do something special against the Jets? Do your job and get a pick six," Gresh yelled. "Stop with the crap about I'm gonna be vindictive and I'm gonna jab the team that I left well over a year ago -- it's childish. You wanna do something special against them? Give us a pick six. Because Lord knows Geno Smith sucks."

Given the state of this team with injuries, Scott Zolak just doesn't see that happening.

"I don't see the head coach compromising the betterment of the team for the individual player," Zo chimed in. Furthermore, Zolak doesn't feel like Belichick would rub it in  Rex Ryan's face like that.

"See I think Bill respects Rex," Zo continued, "I think there is a respect and an affinity there for each other.  I don't think Bill sticks it in Rex's face tonight with Darrelle Revis. The fact that he is a Patriot is amazing to begin with" --  which on its own should be enough of a jab to Jets fans.

We've seen Belichick do funny things before, like have Tom Brady punt or Doug Flutie attempt a drop kick, but the bottomline is don't go picking up Darrelle Revis tonight in fantasy and expect an offensive touchdown.
