Stoneham Police Charge Alleged Drug Dealer With Possession Of Heroin, Cocaine

STONEHAM (CBS) – A Lawrence man was arrested Friday night in Stoneham, charged with possession with intent to distribute a large amount of heroin, crack cocaine, and powdered cocaine.

Stoneham Police Chief James McIntyre announced on Saturday that Pedro Diaz-Vazquez, 29, of Lawrence was arrested Friday night in Stoneham by local officers and members of the Southern Middlesex Regional Drug Task Force.

McIntyre said Stoneham police had been conducting surveillance on Duncklee Ave. for several months in response to multiple complaints of drug activity in the neighborhood.

On Friday night, detectives said they located Diaz-Vazquez and determined that he had a large amount of drugs on him.

Upon arresting the Lawrence man, officers found 27 bags of heroin, 10 bags of crack cocaine, and six bags of powdered cocaine.

Diaz-Vazquez was charged with possession with intent to distribute Class A and B substances. He was released on bail and is expected to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Tuesday.

"The Stoneham Police Department will not allow the drug trade to ruin lives and destroy neighborhoods in this community," McIntyre said. "I applaud the bravery of our residents for coming forward and taking a stand with police."
