Several Injured In Maine Hayride Accident

MECHANIC FALLS, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a hayride carrying as many as 30 people rolled over at a farm in Mechanic Falls, injuring numerous people.

The accident happened Saturday night at Harvest Hill Farms along Route 26. According to the farm's website, it offers a Halloween-themed hayride called The Gauntlet Haunted Night Ride.

A dispatcher for the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office says one of the farm's wagons overturned during a hayride shortly before 9 p.m. He says witnesses who called 911 reported there between 10 and 30 people on the wagon when it flipped over. Numerous ambulances and helicopters responded. The dispatcher says there are multiple injuries, but he did not know how many or the severity of them.
