MBTA Seeks Man Allegedly Caught On Video Kicking Fare Gates

BOSTON (CBS) – Transit police are looking to identify a man allegedly caught on video damaging several MBTA fare gates earlier this month.

MBTA Transit police said the incident took place on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Wood Island station. In total they said more than $3,000 in damage was caused.

In security footage, a man can be seen attempting to scan his card to enter the station. When it does not work, he appears to become frustrated, and kicks one of the gates.

When another commuter scans his way through the fare gate, the suspect walks through before the gate closes. He then turns back around and appears to kick the gate once more.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the MBTA's Criminal Investigations Unit at (617) 222-1050. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can text tips to 873873.
