Blackstone House Where 3 Dead Infants Were Found Will Be Demolished

BLACKSTONE (CBS) – The Blackstone Board of Health has ordered the demolition of a home where three dead infants were found.

The decision was made Tuesday night after the home's owner never showed up to a meeting.

At a joint meeting of the Health Department and Board of Selectman Tuesday night, they talked about the home where two young kids were found alone, neglected and among dead animals, filth and three dead babies.

"How anybody could live in a structure like that where you had vermin, dog feces and human feces on the walls and ceilings in the attic, it was just a horrendous scene," Bill Walsh of the Blackstone Board of Health said Tuesday.

A scene they say is still unlivable after 90 hours of hazmat cleaning. They agreed the house should come down and they ordered the owner, Kristina Rivera, to do it within a week.

Erika Murray was living in the home at the time and faces several charges including fetal death concealment.

The demolition of the home would come as a relief to neighbors who are scarred by the disturbing discovery. "I think the town should knock this property down but I think that the expense should be billed to the owner," neighbor Judy Morrow-Maloney said.

Town officials say Rivera has ignored every order or letter they have sent, so now they are taking control.

If Rivera does not tear the house down within seven days she will be fined $500 a day plus the $20,000 she already owes for the cleanup.
