Daily Talker: What's The Best Way To Prevent Chaos And Violence At The Bus Stop?

Chaos and violence at a school bus stop in Worcester. A 16-year-old girl is facing assault charges after police say she punched a school bus driver in the face. It all started when the bus driver arrived at a bus stop in the area of Harlem Street and Perry Avenue last Wednesday. The driver told police she was following protocol, and trying to allow kindergarten students to get off the bus before the older students. But, waiting parents became impatient and began yelling. School officials say the driver was then ordered by dispatch to close the door and not let any students off the bus until police arrived. That only made the situation worse. One parent told WBZ they felt like the bus driver was holding their children hostage. Police say several parents forced their way onto the bus to get their kids off. Some of them were threatening the driver and yelling profanities. All in front of a bus full of children. That's when, police say, a 16-year-old girl got on the bus, pulled the driver's hair and then punched her in the face. An 8-year-old student told WBZ he was scared. And he wasn't alone in that. The bus driver was back to work Friday, but on a different route. What can we learn from this situation? Should new rules about parents at bus stops be put in place? What's the best way to prevent another situation like this?
