Driver Caught With Fake Massachusetts License Plate

BOSTON (CBS/AP) - State Police are trained to notice things, especially the unusual.

So when a trooper pulled a car over on Interstate 391 in Chicopee  around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, she took a closer look at the license plate because something seemed odd.

It wasn't a newly designed plate.

It was actually just a piece of cardboard.

In a poor attempt to replicate a real Massachusetts license plate, the letters and numbers were crudely drawn with a red marker.

The word "Massachusetts" and the phrase "The Spirit of America" were written in the appropriate places in blue pen.

The 20-year-old woman driving the vehicle was charged with driving with a suspended license and a revoked registration and attaching false plates.

Her name was not released.

On their Facebook page, State police said, "Moral of the story, if you shouldn't be driving, please don't."
