Daily Talker: Should Protesting Workers Be Protected?
Is there an end in sight? Although it feels like we've been saying this for weeks, a deal could soon be reached in the Market Basket battle.
The Globe reports the rival cousins are close to a deal. Lawyers for both sides are trying to hammer out the fine details.
The company's board of directors could take up the matter today.
In a new twist, federal officials are getting involved. The Boston office of the National Labor Relations Board will investigate an unfair labor practice charge filed by a Market Basket employee. The employee filed the charge last week accusing the supermarket chain of threatening to fire protesting workers and having a hostile work environment. If investigators find the National Labor Relations Act was violated, a complaint will be issued and a hearing will be held.
What do you think about the employee's complaint? Should protesting workers be protected from losing their jobs?
