BEDFORD (CBS) – Police arrested a man suspected of robbing a Bedford bank Monday thanks to a tip tweeted just hours after images from bank surveillance cameras were released.

The bank was robbed just after noon and the suspect was captured on surveillance photos grabbing a handful of cash while making no attempt to disguise himself.

Bedford police said that after the images went out on Twitter and Facebook they quickly received calls from people who recognized the suspect.

Joseph Barrett, 45, of Dorchester was arrested without incident where he worked on South Road in Bedford and charged with one count of armed robbery, police said.

Barrett is being held at the Bedford Police Department and will likely be arraigned Tuesday in Concord District Court, police said.

Police said Barrett walked into the Bank of America branch on The Great Road at 12:13 and demanded money. He allegedly claimed to have a firearm and left with an undetermined amount of money.
