Pizza Delivery Driver Brutally Attacked In NH

SOMERSWORTH, N.H. (CBS) - A vacant basement apartment was the site of a brutal attack on a pizza delivery driver in Somersworth, New Hampshire.

The victim is now out of the hospital but the injuries were severe.

"He had a lot of blows to the head," said the driver's boss, Tom Kefalas, who owns Somersworth House of Pizza. "A big gash right between his eyebrows and his nose, he was bleeding, there was a lot of blood."

Tom Kefalas says a nearby resident helped the driver, 29-year-old Brandon Patterson, after the assault while Tom raced to the scene. Patterson was stumbling and incoherent.

"He's like my right hand man and not to mention that I look at him as a son," said Kefalas.

When the order came in, the restaurant was told to deliver the food to the back door so when the driver arrived at 51 Green Street, he went to the rear of the multi-family house and was attacked from behind.

"He was literally ambushed," said Somersworth Police Chief Dean Crombie.

The men swiped cash and part of the $60 food order and ran off.

Police say they are working several leads and there are likely multiple suspects.

"It's extremely disturbing," said Chief Crombie. "Here's a guy delivering pizza. It was just a vicious, vicious attack."

A fundraising page on GoFundMe has been set up to help the husband and father of three recuperate from numerous head injuries.
