NORTHBRIDGE (CBS) – A 72-year-old woman is facing drunk driving charges after plunging her car into a Northbridge pond.

Officers say the woman, who has not yet been identified, but is from Whitinsville, was driving down Linwood Avenue on July 4 around 11:45 a.m. when she lost control of her car and landed it in the water.

Firefighters showed up in time to rescue the woman from the car as it was sinking.

She was taken to Milford Hospital with minor injuries.

Police say she will be summonsed to Uxbridge District Court for charges of oui-liquor and marked lanes violation.
