BOSTON (CBS) — Bad weather continues to alter Fourth of July weekend plans in Boston.

The Red Sox announced Friday morning that their game against the Orioles, scheduled for 1:35 p.m. on July 4, has been postponed due to expected inclement weather. The weather in Boston is expected to be rainy and windy due to Hurricane Arthur making its way up the East Coast. Storms are expected in Massachusetts throughout the day and evening on Friday.

The Red Sox and Orioles will now play a doubleheader on Saturday at Fenway Park. The game that was originally scheduled for Friday will be played at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday. The game originally scheduled for Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. will go on as planned.

Tickets for Friday’s game will be honored for the afternoon game on Saturday.

The 1:05 p.m. Saturday game will air on NESN, while the 7:15 p.m. game will air on Fox.

It is another adjustment made in Boston on Fourth of July weekend, as the Boston Pops Firework Spectacular was bumped up a day from July 4 to July 3 in order to avoid the bad weather. Even still, the fireworks had to begin early on Thursday night in order to avoid heavy thunder and lightning storms that swept through the area around 11 p.m.

The Orioles are currently in a virtual tie for first place in the AL East with a 46-39 record. The Blue Jays share the lead with a 47-40 record. Meanwhile the Red Sox, fresh off getting swept by the Chicago Cubs, sit in fourth place, eight games behind the O’s, with a 38-47 record.
