Lunenburg Man Killed In Dirt Bike Collision

LUNENBURG (CBS) – One man was killed and another injured when their dirt bikes collided Saturday afternoon in Lunenburg.

The two men were on an unpaved access road near 1281 Lancaster Ave. when the accident occurred, the Worcester County District Attorney's office reported.

Dwight Wheeler, 34, of Lunenburg, was thrown from his bike and landed in a ditch.

He was taken to UMass Memorial Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster where he was pronounced dead, the district attorney's office said.

The man on the second dirt bike, Tyler Dowling, 20, of Leominster, was flown by helicopter to UMass Medical Center in Worcester with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was in stable condition.

According to the DA's office, a witness told investigators the dirt bikes were speeding toward each other when their front tires met.
