Police: Woman Stabbed Girlfriend, Set Fire To Home

LAWRENCE (CBS) - A woman was stabbed several times by her girlfriend inside their apartment in Lawrence on Saturday morning before the building was set on fire, police said.

Officers and firefighters were called to the home at 638 Haverhill Street early Saturday morning.

According to police, Yohanna Estrella, 34, had stabbed the victim in the abdomen and set the couch on fire. The flames spread to the walls of the apartment building.

A neighbor told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe that she heard screaming from the victim.

"She was screaming outside, 'I'm stabbed, I'm stabbed,'" the neighbor said.

At least one neighbors say her dog died in the fire. Several other pets were rescued from the fire.

People who lived in the building said that there have been numerous problems in that particular apartment in the past year, and that they constantly called police and the landlord because the two women who lived there were often fighting.

Estrella is charged with arson, assault and battery on household member, assault and battery with dangerous weapon, and assault with intent to murder.
