DA Investigating Death Of Weymouth Infant With DCF Involvement

WEYMOUTH (CBS) -- The district attorney's office is investigating the death of a 2-month-old girl who was under the watch of the Department of Children and Families.

According to authorities, the infant was found unresponsive Friday morning by her parents.

An autopsy was conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston and although final determinations, including the cause and manner of death, are listed as undetermined, pending microscopic and toxicological testing, the Medical Examiner did not find any trauma or injury to the body consistent with foul play, the DA said.

The Department of Children and Families was notified per protocol in a child death.

"The Department is deeply saddened by this news. DCF had recently opened a case with this family when this tragic incident occurred. We received a report and the investigation is ongoing in coordination with law enforcement," DCF said in a statement.
