Machine Repairing MBTA Red Line Tracks Crashes In Dorchester

DORCHESTER (CBS) - A piece of heavy equipment performing track work along the MBTA Red Line wound up at the bottom of a hill on Sunday.

The machine wound up on Elm Street in Dorchester.

The crash caused hydraulic fluid to leak out of the machine. The state Department of Environmental Protection was called in to assess whether there was any environmental impact from the spill.

The operator was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The MBTA says the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Buses were already replacing train service in that area for the weekend as crews worked on the tracks.

Regularly scheduled Red Line service was expected to resume on Monday.
