FRAMINGHAM (CBS) – A woman who works with addiction programs and a man who works with an organization to keep kids off drugs are two members of a major drug ring, Framingham Police say.

Eight people are charged in the drug distribution organization. Police say Robert Hairston was the leader. His mother Norma Hairston allegedly was the group’s money person.

Norma Hairston also works in case management at South Middlesex Opportunity Council, a group that runs residential drug treatment programs.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Lana Jones reports

SMOC could not speak about the Hairston case specifically, but said they are working with police.

“It’s an absolute betrayal if someone they’ve placed trust in is someone who is then subsequently found to be dealing or supporting people who are dealing. We can’t abide by that. We would not tolerate that,” said SMOC Director Jerry Desilets.

Hairston also worked as a counselor at MetroWest Medical Center and ran meetings for Narcotics Anonymous according to court documents.

The alleged drug ring also included a local rapper named Cheniel “Biggy” Garcia. Garcia works with a Framingham youth anti-drug program.

According to court documents the drug ring was caught on tape and police witnessed transactions.

“A substantial sized organization, very involved in the trafficking and distribution in the Framingham region,” said Framingham Police Chief Kenneth Ferguson.

Some of the dealing occurred near Framingham Schools and near Natick Mall.
