Boston Firefighters Approve New Contract
BOSTON (CBS) --- Boston Firefighters have a new contract that gives them a big pay raise.
The union Thursday night voted overwhelmingly to ratify a deal that calls for a nearly 19-percent salary hike, phased in over several years.
Firefighters had been without a contract for three years.
"I'm very pleased to hear the results from tonight's vote, and I want to thank the membership for their confidence and support," said Mayor Marty Walsh. "I'm glad that this matter is officially resolved. In particular, I want to thank Rich Paris and the leadership of Local 718 for their commitment to this process and to protecting the best interests of the people of Boston."
